Rachael & Dave’s Colorful, Geometric Groove-Fest

Photos by Lauren Ahn Photography

Rachael and Dave came to Sunbursts & Stardust with a colorful, eclectic, funky vision. Their inspiration included lots of fun geometric shapes, various textures and materials, and as you can guess, tons of bright colors.

To make this vision a reality, we partnered with Salt Floral and Creamery Hill to transform the venue space at BLDG39. Sarah at Salt Floral has an amazing collection of bright bud vases and vessels (peep the frog vase!) herself, while Rachael made it her mission to thrift and source her own collection of vases and accents as well. When both Sarah and Rachael's vessel collections came together along with the visionary florals from Salt Floral, tablescape magic was made.

We also couldn't have made this vision come to life without Creamery Hill. Rachael had a reference image of a fabric ceremony backdrop but really wanted to make it her own using her unique color scheme. She actually ended up hand-dyeing the fabric herself! Kelsey then turned the hand-dyed fabric into the awesome structure you see as the ceremony and sweetheart table backdrop. The seating chart is one of the highlights of the decor - the bold colors, shapes, lines, and fonts really helped capture the essence of the wedding.

For food and drink, we had delectable cuisine (think fresh cacio e pepe right out of the wheel and an intense charcuterie display) plus amazing lavender cocktails / mocktails from DiBruno Brothers. One of the coolest parts of this wedding was the inclusion of Brood, a mobile coffee truck. They parked in BLDG 39's lot after dinner and served up made-to -order espresso drinks and delicious desserts and pastries.

Gemma at Luv'd Up DJs had the dance floor going all night, playing a funky selection that perfectly reflected Rachael & Dave as a couple, all from behind her disco-ball clad, decked-out DJ table. Rachael had a super whimsical and fun after party skirt that she changed into, which went perfectly with the crazy collection of sunglasses we handed out to the guests on the dance floor.

To make the day as cool as this couple, R&D added in some fun touches. A wedding morning tarot card reading? Done by the bride’s mom who reads tarot cards? Yes please! Rachael also paired her unique two-piece gown from Philly’s own Kinfolk Bride with a vintage veil she sourced herself. After the ceremony, she donned a vintage-inspired “etoile d’amour'' gold pendant necklace, which translates to “star of love.”
